Why Truth or Heresy?

The definition of heresy comes from a word in Greek that means “able to choose”, it also means that one believes something to be true that does not conform to the church’s mainstream dogma.

From the Wikipedia:“The word “heresy” comes from the Greek hairetikos “able to choose” (haireisthai “to choose”). The term heresy is often perceived as a value judgment and the expression of a view from within an established belief system. Heresy is proposing some unorthodox change to an established system of belief, especially a religion, that conflicts with the previously established opinion of scholars of that belief such as canon. It is sometimes confused with apostasy which is disaffiliation from orthodoxy and blasphemy which is defamation of orthodox opinion.”

Maybe the word heterodoxy would be closer since I do not propose (or even dream of) changing some religion’s belief system.

From the Wikipedia: includes “any opinions or doctrines at variance with an official or orthodox position”.[1] As an adjective, heterodox is used to describe a subject as “characterized by departure from accepted beliefs or standards” (status quo). The noun heterodoxy is synonymous with unorthodoxy, while the adjective heterodox is synonymous with dissident.

However, I stand on the right to be able to choose what I want to believe and not be mandated by any religious leader or religious doctrine. At the same time, I have a strong desire to know and possess the real truth. The object of what I have written on this site is not to convince people that my way is correct, but to inspire people to question and challenge what they have always assumed to be the truth, having been indoctrinated by the religious establishment.

What I have written here on this site is what I believe to be truth whether it is contrary to any religious dogmas or not. The content on this site is subject to change, just as I am subject to change my view on things as I don’t consider myself to have “arrived” nor do I consider myself the “owner of the Truth”.

I am constantly searching for truth and praying about whether it is really the “real truth” or not. If per chance I see that I am in error, I may change my way of thinking and hence the contents of this site.
