Did the some of the writers of the canonical gospels add to the prophecies about Jesus?
I’m not saying that all the prophecies in the gospels found in the old testament are not about Jesus. I believe some of them are. I do believe that Jesus was a messiah from the tribe of Jesse as were the kings that were descended from King David and king Solomon. What I have tried to point out here is the fact that there are a lot of passages that seem to have been pulled out of the old testament by the writers of the canonical gospels that appear to be craftily inserted there in order to make the stories more believable.
However, in the gospel of the Nazarenes Jesus himself says that there are prophecies in the old testament that are about him. What’s more, the same sayings word for word in the the canonical gospels.
Gospel of the Nazarenes
85:8 Then he said unto them, O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken; Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and then to enter into his glory?85:9 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures, the things concerning himself.
Gospel of Luke
Luk 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:Luk 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
However, there are some of the same prophecies in the canonical gospels that are nearly identical to the ones in the Gospel of the Nazarenes. And then there are other prophecies that are in the canonical gospels that are absent in the Gospel of the Nazarenes. It appears that there are extra passages that were added in after the gospels were already written to give extra credence to the stories.
The fact that these men have actually added to things from Jesus’ teachings fulfills the prophecy of Jesus when he said:
44:7 But there will arise after you, men of perverse minds who will through ignorance or through craft, suppress many things of which I have spoken to you; and lay to me things which I never taught, sowing noxious weeds among the good wheat which I have given you to sow in the world.
95:4 But the time is coming when darkness will cover the earth, and gross darkness will consume the people. The enemies of truth and righteousness will rule in my name. They will set up a kingdom in this world, oppressing the peoples, and cause the enemy to blaspheme; replacing my doctrines with the opinions of men; teaching in my name that which I have not taught, thereby darkening with their traditions, much that I have taught.”
Adding these extra “prophecies” may not seem so bad, but some of the forgeries that have been added and the important basic doctrines that have been cut out by the church fathers… this is where we are talking about some extremely serious corruptions of basic doctirnal issues.
44:8 Then will the truth of God endure the contradiction of sinners, for thus it has been, and thus it will be. But the time comes when the things which they have hidden will be revealed and made known, and the truth will make free those which were found.
