Why Truth or Heresy?

The definition of heresy comes from a word in Greek that means “able to choose”, it also means that one believes something to be true that does not conform to the church’s mainstream dogma.

From the Wikipedia:“The word “heresy” comes from the Greek hairetikos “able to choose” (haireisthai “to choose”). The term heresy is often perceived as a value judgment and the expression of a view from within an established belief system. Heresy is proposing some unorthodox change to an established system of belief, especially a religion, that conflicts with the previously established opinion of scholars of that belief such as canon. It is sometimes confused with apostasy which is disaffiliation from orthodoxy and blasphemy which is defamation of orthodox opinion.”

Maybe the word heterodoxy would be closer since I do not propose (or even dream of) changing some religion’s belief system.

From the Wikipedia: includes “any opinions or doctrines at variance with an official or orthodox position”.[1] As an adjective, heterodox is used to describe a subject as “characterized by departure from accepted beliefs or standards” (status quo). The noun heterodoxy is synonymous with unorthodoxy, while the adjective heterodox is synonymous with dissident.

However, I stand on the right to be able to choose what I want to believe and not be mandated by any religious leader or religious doctrine. At the same time, I have a strong desire to know and possess the real truth. The object of what I have written on this site is not to convince people that my way is correct, but to inspire people to question and challenge what they have always assumed to be the truth, having been indoctrinated by the religious establishment.

What I have written here on this site is what I believe to be truth whether it is contrary to any religious dogmas or not. The content on this site is subject to change, just as I am subject to change my view on things as I don’t consider myself to have “arrived” nor do I consider myself the “owner of the Truth”.

I am constantly searching for truth and praying about whether it is really the “real truth” or not. If per chance I see that I am in error, I may change my way of thinking and hence the contents of this site.

I have been telling people that we need to list the Vatican on Ebay. Make copies of all their censored scrolls, documents and parchments they have locked away. Then put the Roman Catholic Church on trial for heresy! And that is just a start.

I doubt that would ever happen. But if the originals have been locked away in the Vatican’s vaults, I really believe that one day when the world is ready the truth will come out — that is if they didn’t burn it all hundreds of years ago. The RCC will never go on trial for heresy, but the day is coming when she will be burned with fire and destroyed. This is prophesied in the bible. I don’t believe in everything in the bible, but there is an awful lot of truth in it — that I’m sure of.

I am so happy to have found your site, Doug.
    Thank you!

Thus far, you seem to have literally taken ideals from my own heart and are able to put them all into words.
The idea that God would send someone to hell for not being a Christian, or especially of RCC heritage, makes me literally angry.
Having learned what ‘mortal’ means, in no uncertain terms a few months ago, I have just posted a blog about reincarnation. the 1st person to reply was someone who I didn’t even know, telling me that he.she hopes one day I will see the light, etc etc etc.
I took the liberty to use a few of your words on the topic that so struck a chord with me, as a reply to that person this morning. And I truly hope you do not mind.
My blog can be found at http://flintville.multiply.com/journal/item/1229/Reincarnation_is_in_ALL_religions. I wish you could, but understand you do not have the time to go read it all. I had taken an article about Dr Brian Weiss and had written that I quite agree with him etc…

Sure and I set someone off.

I thank you again for being here.

    XOXO
    Me
