The Bible Corrupted Part 2
Besides the some of the Jewish priests themselves having written lies there are texts that have been obviously tampered with. The Encyclopedia Britannica indicates that from comprehensive examination of the recently found Dead Sea scrolls shows indisputably a number of corruptions that were introduced into the Hebrew text. Many errors were made when the texts were incorrectly translated from Hebrew to Greek. In many cases the translators purposely changed its meaning when the original was embaressing or unclear.
The purpose of this article is not to go into deep analysis and show a lot of detail, but to give an overall general view of the truth of the matter since the motive of this is to get people to question and think critically for themselves and not just accept what their pastors or favorite theologians teach them. As Albert Einstein said, “The important thing is not to stop questioning“.
I’m not saying that there is not a lot of truth in the old testament, there is. What I’m saying is that not all the information in the old testament, the Septuagint in specific, is completely reliable. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica even the crdibilty of the Massoretic text is questionable and appears to have been tampered with in some places.
But apart from the many textual inacruacies of the old tesament, the prophets of God themselves point to the fact that some of their priests have corrupted the jewish religion itself leading to many falsehoods and evil practices that God did not ordain or command.
The scribes, obviously at the behest of the priests, wrote lies, and things that were not commanded of God:
Jer 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? Behold, certainly the lying pen of the scribes hath made it falsehood.
Jesus himself pointed out the errors as had many prophets before him such as the errors that were in the religious customs. Remember since God was IN Jesus, it was God speaking through Jesus and not Jesus’ own words as he said that he spoke nothing of himself but only what he was taught of the Father. When he says, “But I say unto you…”, this is actually God saying it:
Mat 5:22 But I say to you that every one who becomes angry with his brother shall be answerable to the magistrate; that whoever says to his brother ‘Raca,’ shall be answerable to the Sanhedrin; and that whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the Gehenna of Fire.
Mat 5:28 But I say unto you That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Mat 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Mat 5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all…
Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Jesus declared that God did not command animal sacrifices, but mercy and truth:
Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
From the very beginning the Isealites brought with them the evil pagan practices from Egypt that God did not command nor was he pleased with:
Act 7:41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
Act 7:42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
Act 7:43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
Jer 7:22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Heb 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Moses himself predicted that the corruption would come and in only a little more than 600 years later (in Jer 8:8) were his predictions confirmed:
Deu 31:25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,
Deu 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
Deu 31:27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
Deu 31:28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.
Deu 31:29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
