The Bible Corrupted Part 1
It doesn’t take much research to find out how much the bible has been corrupted — the old testament as well as the new. Moses and Jesus both predicted that the sacred scriptures would be altered. All the evidence, from just what we can prove, is enormous, not to speak of everything all the evidence that has been “lost” or destroyed, most probably to cover up what had been done.
In my research I have seen some of the pitiful attempts of Christians to justify or to try to explain away just so much of the denunciations against biblical corruption, but their attempts are like a drop in the bucket in comparison to what would need to be done to wipe away all of the most powerful evidence that stands against the infalibility of the bible.
It is not the objective of this essay to make an exhaustive expose of all the evidence that actually does exist. The main issue here is to show some of the most extraordiary pieces of proof in a way that is most convincing and clear. I don’t mean to be glib, but I realize that most people have a very short attention span and to read something that would take more than ten minutes would be counter productive. Moreover, there is so much that has already been written on the subject. So whoever would like to get deeper into the subject may read some of the more comprehensive studies that have already been done on this subject.
Much of the teachings of Jesus were not given to be transcribed for fear of corruption by “daring men”
To begin with, Peter and James, who were the pillars of the early church, knew that evil men would corrupt their writings, and the most important and advanced teachings of Jesus were not shared with the world, but hid them safely away far from the hands of those who would pervert them and rewrite them with their interpretations that fit the teachings of the church.
St. Jerome Writes:
St. Matthew himself, the Apostle and Evangelist, did not wish to be openly written. For if it had not been Secret, he would have added to the evangel that which he gave forth was his… But this very book they never gave to any one to be transcribed, and its text they related some one way and some another.
In an epistle of Peter and James:
“Hear me, brethren and fellow-servants. If we should give the books to all indiscriminately, and they should be corrupted by any daring men, or be perverted by interpretations, as you have heard that some have already done, it will remain even for those who really seek the truth, always to wander in error. Wherefore it is better that they should be with us, and that we should communicate them with all the fore-mentioned care to those who wish to live piously, and to save others.”
The most audacious perversion of truth
The most conclusive proof that the gospels have been tampered is the is the fact that in one of the oldest existing bibles reads the words:
“Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee”
…which was spoken by God when Jesus was baptised in the Jordan river. This can be confirmed in the bible itself in the book of Acts and the epistle of Hebrews and even in the psalms. But in the first three gospels it is changed to read:
“This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”.
And in the gospel called John this phrase in removed altogether!
The obvious motive for corrupting these gospels in such a significant way was because this verse clearly shows that Jesus became a son when he was at lease 30 years old! This passage contradicts the very doctrine of the Trinity and it means that Jesus was a creation of God and not merely God Himself as a man-god. (See my article: Today you have become my son)
Tampering with the words of God to make it fit the false scriptural doctrine of the trinity
The roman church not only altered the very words of God to fit their newly created doctrine of the trinity, but they also, with the arm of the roman government preceded to murder all those who spoke out against it.
The day was to come when the Nicene party won out completely and then the emperors… decreed that one who denied the Trinity should be put to death. (The Church of our Fathers – pg. 46)
Another of the verses that was altered to make it fit the doctrine of the trinity is 1 John 5:7 which reads in the king James version:
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
In the original it was:
For there are three that give testimony– the Spirit, the water, and the blood;
The gospel of John is not known who the actual author is, and certainly not John the disciple. The first chapter starts out with a passage that Christians use to prove that Jesus was God and thus the veracity of the doctrine of the trinity.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
However, this is not about the “Word” but it is from the Greek philosophy of the “Logos” of a mythological god that stems back 300 years before Christ. The Jewish Christians hated the Greeks because of how they perverted the truth with their philosophy. This was obviously not a teaching of Jesus but an interpolation of the Greek/Roman church.
Others who spoke about the corruption of the scriptures
Gaius (AD175-200) speaking of early source of corruptions:
The Divine Scriptures these heretics have audaciously corrupted. Laying violent hands upon them, under pretense of correcting them. (Burgon, The Revision Revised, p. 323).
Second century Church Father Clement of Alexandria:
The worst corruptions to which the New Testament has ever been subjected originated within one hundred years after it was composed.
Colwell:
The first two centuries witnessed the creations of the large number of variations known to scholars today. In the manuscripts of the New Testament most variations, I believe, were made deliberately. (What is the Best New Testament Text?, p.119)
G.D. Kilpatrick:
Deliberate changes in all text types appear to antedate A.D. 200… as distinct from errors… all categories of deliberate alteration… are present in both groups. Tatian is the last author of make deliberate changes. The vast majority of deliberate changes were older then A.D. 200. They came into being in the period A.D. 50-200. (Atticism and the Text of the Greek New Testament, pp 125-131):
After the famous meeting in Nicea in 325 AD, the so-called ‘correctors” were hired to rewrite the manuscripts that our bibles originated from and correct their meaning in accordance with the views that the church of the roman emperor Constantine had sanctioned and to make it compatible with church doctrine.
