Why was Jesus Executed?

Jesus was labeled "King of the Jews" and unjustly executed for the accusation of sedition

The Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy by making himself equal to God. But that was a false accusation to try and get Jesus executed. Because of the pressure the Jews put on him, Pilate had Jesus flogged and put to death. The charge that Pilate gave was that Jesus was the king of the Jews, most likely since it implied insurrection against the Roman Empire. Though Pilate didn’t find fault in Jesus, he used a legitimate charge that would keep him from getting into trouble — but that was a trumped up charge also.

The reason that Christians give for the reason that Jesus was “crucified” was that he had to die for the sins of the world. The bible itself says that no man shall die for the sins of another but every man shall die for his own sins. What’s more, God considered child sacrifice an abomination, so would he sacrifice his own son? That’s contradictory.

What makes this idea even more bizarre is that God, his Father, supposedly took pleasure in torturing and killing his only son in order to pay for the sins of the whole world (Isa 53:10,11). God is supposed to be like a father figure, so what kind of father is pleased to see his one and only son tortured and brutally murdered? Sorry, but that makes no sense at all. While the disciples and family of Jesus were shocked and incredibly sad, his Father was supposedly up in heaven rejoicing!

Was he sacrificed like an innocent animal to take away sins?

Mic 6:7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

Mic 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

No blood offering, of beast or bird, or man, can take away sin. For how can the conscience be purged from sin by the shedding of innocent blood? Nay, it will increase the condemnation… (33:3)

According to God in the Old Testament He would have been against sacrificing his only son for sin and God doesn’t change. But what was the requirement for salvation? “to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God“.

So what was the reason that Jesus gave for his execution?

It was the tradition that priests sacrificed animals as payment for sin to appease God. Jesus was high priest but never sacrificed animals neither did John the Baptist. They practiced immersion in water for the remission of sins. And all of the disciples were also taught to do this practice. The reason Jesus gave for not practicing animal sacrifice was that God was not pleased with it:

Mat 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice

Heb 10:4 it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins

Get this: If God is saying that He would not have (animal) sacrifice, then who would the mercy be to? Since Jesus was against animal sacrifice and did not practice it, doesn’t it make sense that he was actually saying to have mercy on the animals and to put an end to animal sacrifice?

Jer 7:22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

but for sins against the Law of God there can be no remission, save by repentance and amendment. (33:2)

So if his death wasn’t because he made himself equal to God; and it wasn’t because he made himself a king; and it wasn’t because God was sacrificing him to pay for the sins of the world, then why?

An innocent seal suffers cruelty at the hand of an evil human

Though the writers of the gospels obviously cut this part out, it is certain that Jesus said it:

I have come to end the sacrifices and feasts of blood, and if you don’t cease offering and eating of flesh and blood, the wrath of God will not cease from you… (21:8)

(The church fathers quoted this from Matthew’s gospel of the Hebrews that was in circulation at the time, plus this same saying is in the gospel of the Nazarenes.)

Neither he nor his disciples practiced animal sacrifices and this practice was no longer mentioned after his death — AT ALL.

Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same (animal) sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

A bird mourns the death of her mate

It is obvious then from this, that his intention was to put an end to animal sacrifices and make himself the ultimate sacrifice, once and for all time. It was Jesus’ intention that he LET them “sacrifice” him, so-to-speak, in order to stop the horrible practice of sacrificing of innocent animals that suffered without being able to say a word.

Even studies done on animals today reveal that animals have feeling, they feel pain and they grieve. Jesus loved animals and the animals loved him. For centuries animals have been our friends, help lighten our loads, heal our sicknesses and keep us well and comfort us. It is not a wonder that Jesus gave his life in order to put a stop to the senseless butchery of innocent, speechless animals who are largely unable to defend themselves.

Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

4:5 Thus it came to pass that He was born in the midst of the animals which He came to redeem from their sufferings, through the redemption of man from ignorance and selfishness, by the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God.

6:19 I will break the bow and the sword. All the instruments of warfare will I banish from the earth. I will make the animals to lie down in safety, and to live without fear.

71:4 And He would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel of blood through the temple, or that any animals should be slain.
